Welcome to the Canton Kayak Club's 11th season!
The 2010 Season is Open
It's that OUTSTANDING time of year again -- time
to hit the big blue watery road! We have officially
opened the 2010 season and we have a ton of events planned
this year. We are also excited to announce our new
dock location at the Island View Waterfront Café in
Essex!
Continue to join us for Paddle Pals on
alternate Saturdays or Sundays and on an occasional
Wednesday too (check the calendar)!
These outings are enjoyed by our 'Newbies' and
returning members alike, and the sunset Wednesday
paddle is a great way to unwind with new kayak
friends. Paddle Pals will NOT take
place in the rain.
Thank you to our members who use the Forum to ask
questions, post kayak anecdotes and make paddle
plans. And stay tuned for continued updates
about the future of our club!

Returning Members and
New Members
that have completed kayak training your 2010 CKC membership
card will be mailed to you or you be given after you
have completed training. If you went
to training and were not given a card upon
completion please contact info@cantonkayakclub.com
and we will send you one.
ISLAND VIEW WATERFRONT CAFE DOCK:
Members have access to a huge new
region of the Chesapeake Bay water that includes the
Middle and the Back River tributaries, and
members will also be able to explore Hart Miller
Island! We've also decided to go with the longer 17'
Venture kayaks for this location because of the
access to the wide open bay conditions. We are
recommending that this location be used by
confident and experienced CKC paddlers ONLY if
paddling to Hart Miller Island. If you
are less experienced and still want to explore this
location we recommend that when leaving the Island
View launch that you go LEFT and stay against
the shoreline. By taking this route there are plenty
of beautiful bay coves to explore without the open
bay conditions.
New for 2010 season:
We
are implementing a 'Kayak Usage Log Book' to be used for
member safety at the Island View Waterfront Cafe
Dock. Members MUST sign-out kayaks by
stating your trip details: date and time when you
leave, your anticipated return, and your contact
info. The Log Book can be found in a wooden box on
the kayak rack, you can't miss it. Happy Kayaking!
If you have any questions about this new, required
procedure please contact your CKC Board at
info@cantonkayakclub.com.
GIFT CERTIFICATES: We have Gift Certificates
available for the 2010
